Back in the ’60s, the greatpreacher Paul Rees described a church conference where they spent all morning in a session on liturgy and worship arguing over the proper use of candles on the communion table. He said, “Just imagine! The world is in flames and the church is debating the placement of candles!” In many ways, I know the world is in flames today. But the church has always sought to be on fire with the passion of the Spirit of Christ.
Pentecost is the season of fire. This season remembers the “Day of Pentecost” when the Holy Spirit descended on the disciples like fire and filled them with power. We look for the ways God’s Spirit is changing lives, bringing hope, renewing the world. In these days we invite you to catch the fire at Simi ValleyUnitedMethodistChurch. Come and join us as we seek to warm the world with the love of Christ.
Welcome to our website and welcome to the United Methodist Church of Simi Valley.
